Osteopathy (Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy) – coming September 2017
Osteopathy is a primary health care system, complementary to other medical practices. It is suitable for nearly everyone and can contribute to the treatment and management of a wide range of conditions. Manual Osteopaths primarily work through the neuro-musculo-skeletal system, mostly on muscles and joints, using a combination of techniques such as: joint mobilization, osteopathy in the cranial field, soft tissue therapy and visceral manipulation with a patent centered approach.
A core philosophy of osteopathy is that the body is an integrated and whole system, containing self-healing mechanisms that can be utilized as part of the treatment. All areas of the body work together rather than in isolation. The key tools for manual osteopathic diagnosis include listening to the patient’s history, examining muscles and joints and observing movements.
Osteopathic Manipulative Therapy is not a licensed modality in Canada however therapists must qualify for a registration number through a Canadian and/or Provincial association to qualify for insurance coverage.
Each treatment consists of sets of soft tissue manipulations on muscle, nerves and tendons, interspersed by short pauses that allow the body to integrate the effects. Bowen Therapy’s gentle application facilitates the body to realign and rebalance itself. The Bowen Therapy ‘moves’ stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system and the proprioceptors, sending off information through the central nervous system to the brain.
Neurokinetic Therapy corrective movement system, is a sophisticated assessment and treatment modality that addresses the causes of dysfunctional movement/coordination problems at their root in the motor control center of the brain. The motor control center stores these patterns and directs their completion through the spinal cord and the muscles. The motor control center learns through failure. Do your physical complaints keep recurring despite trying everything? Do you feel like you’re chasing the pain? Neurokinetic Therapy treats the cause of dysfunction, not the symptoms. NKT corrective movement system addresses the cause of pain – dysfunctional movement patterns stored in the brain.
Kruger Omni Healing
Kruger Omni Healing is a gentle therapy that gently resets the central nervous system. This is done by affecting the nervous system via the skin’s dermatome patterns. Created by Chiropractor Joshua Kruger this therapy is ideal for those who are looking for a quick and effective alternative to more traditional modalities as well as those individuals that are highly sensitive to manual therapy. This modality is often used on conjunction with Bowen and NKT.
