Fitness & Wellness
To enjoy true health and all the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, both exercise and nutrition should be considered.
As a Certified Fitness Trainer and educator in fitness and leisure activities, I have prepared several pages of basic information for anybody who would like to begin on a path towards improved fitness and better nutrition.
Of course, no exercise program should be undertaken without first consulting with your physician, so be sure to do your homework and speak with your doctor, and begin with these importnat points to remember:
Warm up prior to exercise. This increases the mobility and natural lubrication of the joint, which can reduce the chance of injury.
Progress at an appropriate pace. Forcing your body to do too much too soon can lead to injury. Stay within your limits.
Always listen to your body. A “no pain, no gain” attitude can increase the odds of a small imbalance turning into a long term, chronic condition.
Get an immediate diagnosis and choose a treatment plan (which can include many types of therapy/rehab.). This can get you well on your way to achieving your goals pain and injury free.
Stretch and Strengthen all areas used during your preferred sport or activity.
Eat well, drink plenty of water and stay energized! Maintaining proper nutrient levels will ensure a good recovery after exercise and reduce your level of fatigue.
Increase your intensity by using only one training principle at a time. For example: you either increase your time or your frequency but not both.
